Unable to Monitor SQL Lock Performance Counter

Jul 13, 2007 at 6:32 PM
I'm using version 1.0 of PolyMon and am having trouble monitoring some SQL Locks. Using perfmon I am able to monitor this counter without any issues.

Type: Performance Monitor
Host: DBServer1
Category: SQLServer:Locks
Counter: Lock Timeouts (timeout > 0)/sec
Instance: _Total

Here is the results I get when I try to test it.

Status: Fail
Status Message: Fail. Could not locate Performance Counter with specified category name 'SQLServer:Locks', counter name 'Lock Timeouts (timeout > 0)/sec'.

I'm thinking it's probably escaping the Greater Than sign incorrectly. Any ideas on how to get around this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, that's definitely an XML escaping issue that I will have to look at. I don't think there's a workaround to this - it will need to be a bug fix.
